On March 24, people all across the country – from our nation’s capitol and other major cities to rural communities and small towns – will be marching with friends, family, and neighbors to demand that their lives and safety become a priority, and that we put an end to gun violence by speaking out in favor of stronger and more sensible gun legislation. This is a matter of public safety. It pertains to safe passage in our schools, churches and places of worship, theaters, parks, stores, malls, and on Main Street within every town and every city in America. The march is organized officially under “Every Town for Gun Safety,” a four million-member nationwide movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities.
If you are not traveling to a major city, we invite Madison Democrats to join the Town Committee at the local March for our Lives event in Guilford, CT being held this Saturday, March 24th from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the Guilford Green. The event will feature a one-mile walk and a host of speakers including local students, advocacy groups, State Representatives Sean Scanlon and Lonnie Reed, and Senator Richard Blumenthal. So get out your comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and make a sign to carry as we stand in solidarity against gun violence in our country.
If you would like to march with the Madison Democrats, please contact Pam Greene for instructions about where to meet. (We will also post this information here on our website if you want to check back in later this week.)
