The Shoreline League of Democratic Women (SLDW) is pleased to announce our special guest speaker Jen Siskind who will educate us on the issue of fracking waste and how to support the passage of town ordinances to effectively ban fracking waste in all of its forms. Over 35 municipalities in the state are now protected, and many more waste bans are on the way! Read more here about Food and Water efforts in CT.

Each year, billions of gallons of liquid wastes and hundreds of thousands of tons of solid wastes are generated from extraction procedures in New York and Pennsylvania. These wastes are then processed and shipped to other states without proper labeling and distributed for a variety of uses including de-icing of roads and in construction fill products. The composition of these chemical mixtures are often withheld as trade secrets making it difficult to know what dangers they might pose to the environment and to public health.

Bring a friend! The Westbrook Library is located at 61 Goodspeed Drive on the left, before you reach the Daisy Ingraham Elementary School. You can park in the back of the library, and enter directly into the Community Room.
